    Logically, retail is buy and sell. Retail is also part of merchandising you purchase merchandise to sell..then mark-up the price and sell. If you're the sales associate it's either you will purchase the merchandise on cash or credit and if there's any discounts or returns you'll do the adjustments. If you're the bookkeeper you're responsible to record all the daily transaction whether its a purchases, sales, cash disbursements etc. then finalized it with the FS.
