General Accounting Discussions: Bond Required by Truck Owner/Operator

    It's late and I'm cross-eyed. I have an owner/operator truck driver who has to maintain a bond when he drives for a certain type of company. This type of bond isn't like a bond you purchase as an investment. I'm pretty sure it is a liability, but I'm not positive. I want to put it in the Current Liability section. But if I credit Liability for the Bond, what's my offset? If I record it as an asset (debit), Equity would seem like the credit. Any help greatly appreciated.
