    Can you show negative Owners Equity on a Balance Sheet?

    It has been a while since I've been in this position.

    I work for a start up company, and we financed a piece of property to start-up fund the company, so we have cash. However, when I enter the land at purchase price plus capitalized interest, it is not worth more than the loan.

    I can't find an example where a company is financed "upside down" anywhere. (I guess the authors of accounting books are an optimistic bunch!)
