    I suggest you read the material on www.AccountingCoach.com. Go to the home page or the tab Topics Explained and select from the many topics. It's all free and the explanations are well written.

    If you find that accounting is interesting, you should visit the accounting department of a college or university that offers an accounting degree.

    I agree with Counter, check out the topics and materials here then think about looking into a degree program in accounting. Principles of accounting textbooks are also a great resource for the beginner.
