    Hello everybody, I have BA in English literature and I am going to study the MBA in September in one of the hi-rated universities in the UK. Currently I am self studying some business subjects like the basics of Accounting and Finance since I have no idea at all about any of the business subjects.
    I have like 4 months left before I join the program. What do you think I should do so I can get ready for the program?? Pls help me.

    if you want to learn the basic of accounting quikly, i recommend you start focusing on this equation ->
    assets = liabilities + Equity
    for expanded type -> assets + expenses = revenues + liabilities + equity.
    everything in accounting revolves around that equation. that is the core of the debit and credit concept.
    hope that helps

    Thank you very much abril for your comment. You are right. I have started taking private lectures, and you are right the lecturer is focusing in what you have mentioned ( main accounting points) as well as the Accounting Cycle in details. Hope I get as much as I can before I join the program.
    abril One more question if you do not mind .Do you thing that I have enough time to prepare myself before I join the program especially that I have bought pre-program reading books which the university suggested . They are helpful but I think I should focus in Accounting, Finance and Economics Rather than other subjects.

    Thank you very much once again

    accounting, finance and economics are inter-connected - but its head splitting! lol! hehehe.. 4 months i think is enough to learn the "basics" so long as you really focus and ready to forget your social life for the mean time - no kidding. some topics and problems in accounting and finance are (even for the basics) are complicated so make sure you give extra extra time to study and practice applying your knowledge to problems. but dont pressure yourself too much.

    remember you are a smart person and you are not scared with the program!! :)

    for accounting basics you have only three pointers:
    1. accounting equation
    2. accounting cycle
    3. acccouting principles

    you're always welcome. goodluck :)
